Nakeyse Moore led Ch­agua­nas North Sec­ondary to a hard-fought 67-63 vic­to­ry over St Bene­dict’s Col­lege in the South/Cen­tral Zone of the T&T Schools Bas­ket­ball As­so­ci­a­tion’s (TTS­BA) League.

Play­ing at the St Bene­dict’s Col­lege court on Thurs­day, the host team was un­able to make use of home ad­van­tage as Moore notched a match-high 34 points to help his team open the sea­son with a win in the Boys’ Un­der-17 Di­vi­sion.

Ch­agua­nas North’s U-15 team al­so made a win­ning start to its sea­son two days ear­li­er, de­feat­ing the host team San Fer­nan­do East, 47-37. Lead­ing the Ch­agua­nas-based team to vic­to­ry was Jerod Hen­ry with 18 points.

Lat­er, St Bene­dict’s Col­lege’s U-15 unit had a way bet­ter start than its se­nior team, win­ning its sea­son-open­er 42-4 win over Fyz­abad Sec­ondary at home.

In the East Zone, Holy Cross and Hillview Col­leges al­so got off to dom­i­nant starts in the U-15 Di­vi­sion, de­feat­ing Five Rivers and El Do­ra­do West, re­spec­tive­ly.

N’Ko­bie Ince top­scored with 21 points to lift Holy Cross to a com­fort­able 74-12 vic­to­ry over Five Rivers in the sec­ond match of a dou­ble-head­er at the Mal­oney In­door Sports Are­na (MISA) on Fri­day. Ear­li­er, J Fontanelle pro­duced 33 to ease Hillview past El Do­ra­do West, 60-20.

Over in the North Zone, William Fran­cis, who won the open­ing day boys’ skills chal­lenge, pi­lot­ed Fa­ti­ma Col­lege to vic­to­ries in two di­vi­sions on Thurs­day and then on Sat­ur­day.

In Group 2 of the boys’ U-17 Di­vi­sion at Fa­ti­ma Col­lege court on Thurs­day, Fran­cis scored 17 to help his team beat East Mu­cu­rapo, 46-17 in the open­ing match of the day. Lat­er, Queen’s Roy­al Col­lege (QRC) got the bet­ter of St Fran­cis Col­lege, 40-34.

Fran­cis re­turned to the court in Fa­ti­ma’s match against Trin­i­ty Mo­ka in the U-20 Di­vi­sion on Sat­ur­day and top­scored with 18 to lead the host team to a one-sided 77-7 win in the sec­ond match.
