Police suspect that remains which were found along the coastline off a beach in Sangre Grande, could be from the drifting vessel spotted near the bp Cassia Platform off Trinidad’s south-eastern coast last month.
Five bodies were seen in that vessel.
Police said on Wednesday, a Sangre Grande man went to the area to catch crabs when he spotted a skull, torso and bones scattered on the sand. He called the police.
The remains were removed and forensic tests will be conducted to determine the identity.
Last month, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard reported that while attempting to tow the vessel with the decomposing bodies to shore, the towline separated and the vessel disappeared from view and sunk.
Days later, two decomposed bodies washed ashore in Manzanilla.
None of the remains have been identified.
It is suspected the bodies on board may have been African migrants seeking to gain refuge in Europe, when their boat drifted in the sea.
