National Under-17 strikers Orielle Martin and Rasheda Archer are among ten members of the successful Ayanna Russell-coached team which qualified from the Group B four-team Concacaf U-17 Girls Championship to the Final Round World Cup qualifiers, selected by coach Dernelle Mascall in the national U-20 women's team.
Mascall named her 21-member for the Concacaf U-20 Women's Qualifying Championship Group B four-team qualifiers to also be contested at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva against Canada, Bermuda, and Dominica.
In addition to Martin of Bishop Anstey East High School and Archer of South East Port-of-Spain Secondary, the other players who were part of last month's U-17 team and selected by Mascall include the trio of goalkeepers England-based Zaira Aimey of Welling Utd FC, Zofia Richards and Kenisha Taylor, defenders Hackeemar Goodridge and Mikaela Yearwood, midfielders Cherina Steele, and Ty'Kaiya Dennis as well as striker Madison Campbell.
T&T will open their campaign in the second match of a double-header at Couva on February 21 against Bermuda from 6 pm, after Canada and Dominica kick off the group series three hours earlier.
The Soca Princesses will then face Dominica on February 23 also from 6 pm with Bermuda and Canada meeting in the opener from 3 pm before the final day of matches on February 25, which will see T&T and Canada going head-to-head from 6 pm in what is expected to be the group decider.
At the end of round-robin play, the first-place team from each group (six teams in total) will advance to the 2025 Concacaf U-20 Women’s Championship joining the two pre-seeded top-ranked nations, USA and Mexico.
Group F of the Concacaf U-20 Women's qualifiers involving Costa Rica, Guatemala, the Cayman Islands, and Aruba will also be contested at Couva from February 20 until February 24.
The four remaining qualifying series will see Antigua and Barbuda host Group A, the Dominican Republic entertains Groups B and C, and Nicaragua will welcome the Group D nations.
The other groups will feature Group A (Haiti, Guyana, Belize, Antigua & Barbuda); Group B (Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Honduras, US Virgin Islands); Group C (Dominican Republic, Panama, Cuba, Bonaire); and Group D (Jamaica, Nicaragua, St Kitts & Nevis, St Vincent & the Grenadines).
The Championship Stage will include eight CONCACAF Member Associations and be played in a to-be-confirmed centralised venue in May.
The eight teams will be split into two groups of four each, from which the group winners and runners-up will advance to the semifinals and qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The semifinal winners will advance to the final, where the champion will be crowned.
In the previous edition of the CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship, played in the Dominican Republic in 2023, Mexico defeated the USA 2-1 in the final, earning their second title at this age level.
