Cen­tral Sports, the De­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, are seek­ing their third straight win in the T&T Crick­et Board (TTCB) Pre­mier League Di­vi­sion One when they trav­el to Preysal to­day as Round Three ac­tion gets un­der­way Sat­ur­day (Feb­ru­ary 15) morn­ing.

The Fe­lic­i­ty-based team reg­is­tered wins in the two-day com­pe­ti­tion against Pris­ons Sports and Vic­to­ria in the first two match­es and sits top of the ta­ble with 49 points, 12 points clear of Queen’s Park Crick­et Club (QPCC) in sec­ond place with 37 points.

Preysal are com­ing off two draws, against Pow­er­gen and last week ver­sus York­shire. The In­shan Ali Park-based club is hop­ing for a good show­ing against last sea­son's dou­ble win­ners and can take en­cour­age­ment from Aaron Bankay’s knock of 66 in last week’s draw against York­shire. Cen­tral Sports, how­ev­er, wel­comed the re­turn to form by Kamil Pooran, who scored 45.

Queen’s Park will at­tempt to keep pace with Cen­tral Sports as they play a dif­fi­cult Clarke Road team. The Parkites scored an im­pres­sive win against Mer­ry­boys two weeks ago but dropped points when they host­ed Pow­er­gen in a draw, al­so last week. It could have been worse for the Tragerete Road team as it was 175 for nine in its on­ly in­nings, re­spond­ing to Pow­er­gen’s 272 first in­nings score.

Ter­rence Hinds res­cued QPCC with 81 not out that pushed them to 270 all out, miss­ing first in­nings points by three runs. That re­sult­ed in Queen’s Park drop­ping from first in the stand­ings to sec­ond, al­low­ing Cen­tral Sports to go top.

Bess Mo­tors Marchin Pa­tri­ots are cur­rent­ly third on 30 points and face a Vic­to­ria team now com­ing off a loss against Cen­tral Sports. The Cen­tral team will start as favourites as they have in their rank West In­dies open­er Evin Lewis, who backed up his dou­ble ton against York­shire two weeks ago with 68 against Clarke Road last week.

Pa­tri­ots can close the gap on the lead­ers with a com­mand­ing win against a team on just 12 points and ninth on the ten-team ta­ble.
