With unbeaten leaders Defence Force not in action until Sunday, second-placed MIC Central FC Reboot will have a chance to cut the points gap between both clubs in the 12-team 2024/2025 T&T Premier Football League (TTPFL) Tier I, when they meet Terminix La Horquetta Rangers Friday (February 14) night.
The meeting between Central FC and Rangers, the second of a double-header at the Phase II Recreation Ground, La Horquetta kicks off at 7 pm.
The Defence Force, under the guidance of first-year coach Coach Densill Theobald, heads the table with a maximum of 30 points from ten matches, led by Isaiah Leacock with 11 goals and former USA-based T&T international Kevin Molino with ten, while Central FC is next with 21 points followed by defending champion Athletic Club Port-of-Spain with 20, Miscellaneous Police FC with 19, San Juan Jabloteh with 18, and Caledonia AIA with 16 to round out the top six.
Central FC will go into tonight's clash on the back of a last-gasp win over Prison Service, 3-2 via a late penalty-kick winner from captain Tyrone Charles, his second goal of the match while Rangers, eighth on the table with ten points from as many matches also had a positive result, a 1-1 draw with AC Port-of-Spain, who needed a 93rd-minute strike from Robert Primus to snatch a draw.
Two hours earlier at La Horquetta, former national coach Angus Eve will seek to get his Club Sando, who will see the return of Jamal Jack from international duty, back to winning ways when they meet the surprise package so far this season in San Juan Jabloteh, with the latter expected to welcome back teenagers, Lindell Sween and Derrel Garcia from international duty with the T&T senior men's national team away to Jamaica last weekend as well.
On Saturday (February 15), a double-header is also carded for the Arima Municipal Stadium with 1976 FC Phoenix going up AC Port-of-Spain from 5 pm while Caledonia AIA, coming off a 2-1 loss to Jabloteh entertains FC Eagles from 7 pm.
On Sunday (February 15), Defence Force will see the return of Molino, goalkeeper Jabari St Hillaire, defenders Justin Garcia and Isaiah Garcia, midfielders Kaihim Thomas and Adriel George, and striker Brent Sam, who all missed their 5-1 win over Point Fortin Civic last time out due to international duty with the Soca Warriors, aim to end the first half of the season with a perfect 11 wins from as many matches.
The leader will meet Prison Service FC from 5 pm with Police FC who will welcome back T&T international Joevin Jones up against Point Fortin Civic, two hours later.
