Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the grue­some mur­der of a woman, af­ter her sev­ered head was found in a cool­er at the side of the road in Siparia yes­ter­day.

Guardian Me­dia was giv­en a name for the mur­der vic­tim, but in­ves­ti­ga­tors at the time were yet to pos­i­tive­ly con­firm the woman’s iden­ti­ty.

Po­lice said the woman may have been killed be­tween Tues­day and yes­ter­day.

Po­lice said around 1.15 pm, in­for­ma­tion was re­ceived and of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force went to Sen­non Vil­lage Ex­ten­sion, where they saw a bag at the side of the road.

When they opened the bag, of­fi­cers saw a small cool­er con­tain­ing the woman’s head soaked in blood.  With the help of ca­dav­er dogs, of­fi­cers searched the sur­round­ing ar­eas for the woman’s body but up to last evening it was not found.

Of­fi­cers of Homi­cide Bu­reau Re­gion 3 are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
