Police are investigating the gruesome murder of a woman, after her severed head was found in a cooler at the side of the road in Siparia yesterday.
Guardian Media was given a name for the murder victim, but investigators at the time were yet to positively confirm the woman’s identity.
Police said the woman may have been killed between Tuesday and yesterday.
Police said around 1.15 pm, information was received and officers of the South Western Division Task Force went to Sennon Village Extension, where they saw a bag at the side of the road.
When they opened the bag, officers saw a small cooler containing the woman’s head soaked in blood. With the help of cadaver dogs, officers searched the surrounding areas for the woman’s body but up to last evening it was not found.
Officers of Homicide Bureau Region 3 are investigating.
