An elderly man and his two adult children were robbed during a home invasion in Penal on Monday.
Police said the 88-year-old man and his 44-year-old son were beaten by the intruders.
Investigators said the father and his son were in the gallery upstairs in their home around 9 pm, when two gunmen ran up a staircase and pointed the guns at them.
The elderly man and his son were beaten about the heads and ordered to lie face down in the living room.
The other victim was downstairs when she heard the commotion and went to investigate. The bandits also forced her to lie on the floor and robbed the family of $11,000 in savings, a $4,500 laptop, a $1,100 Nokia cell phone and a quantity of jewellery.
The armed bandits escaped through some bushes at the back of the house.
WPC Mohammed, of the Barrackpore Police Station, is investigating.
