Police found a woman's head in a cooler on a road in Siparia yesterday.
Guardian Media was given the name of the murder victim, but police said they had not yet confirmed her identity.
Police told Guardian Media that the woman may have been killed within the last 48 hours.
Based on information received at around 1:15 pm officers of the South Western Division Task Force went to Sennon Village Extension where they saw a bag on the side of the road. Inside the bag was a small cooler containing the woman's head soaked in blood. With the help of cadaver dogs, police searched the area for her body but were unsuccessful.
Officers of Homicide Bureau Region 3 are investigating.
