The Water and Sewerage Authority's (WASA) CEO, Keith Halliday, has issued an early warning to the country that there could be water shortages as we go deeper into the dry season.
The dry season is expected to peak in March.
WASA explained yesterday at a press conference that the Arena Reservoir is currently at 73.8 per cent capacity, 10 per cent below its long-term average. Meanwhile, the Hollis Dam is currently at 77 per cent. Its long-term average of 76 per cent.
Halliday says the issues have been exacerbated by climate change. Cutbacks in the water supply of the country are expected according to WASA to be able to continue supplying the nation with water for the remainder of the dry season.
