Following this weekend's triple murder of Anicia James, her brother Anslem James, and, Mitchell Francois in Guanapo, the Police Service’s Deputy Commissioner for Operations, DCP Curt Simon, is assuring the TTPS is working assiduously to solve the crimes.
Anica James was the mother of four children. Her six-year-old son was shot and wounded in the incident.
Anslem James was her brother and Mitchell Francois her common law husband.
On Sunday, DCP Simon and a team of officers returned to the house where the killings occurred.
He says all efforts will be made to bring justice to the families.
“Three persons have lost their lives and this is of great concern to us,” he told Guardian Media.
“We wish to assure that we will leave no stone unturned in … this investigation, with the view of apprehending and detaining, arresting and charging the perpetrators,” he asserted.
DCP Simon acknowledged that murders are still prevalent—even during the current State of Emergency.
He says the TTPS will continue to use all its available resources to address this.
“We know of the public’s concerns during this SoE—that we are still having these shootings and murders,” he noted.
Residents in the Guanapo area expressed their concern about the police response time.
They also are worried about the possibility of escalating gun violence following the murders.
