For the third time, in two weeks, the decomposing body of an elderly man was found at his home on Monday.
Police said officers of the Sangre Grande CID visited Baker Trace, Coalmine around 9 am after residents complained of a foul stench coming from the home of Gregory Gittens.
On reaching the home, the officers found Gittens' body.
A relative who was also at the scene said that Gittens was ill for some time but refused to seek medical treatment.
Investigators did not see any marks of violence on Gittens' body.
Police were told by neighbours that Gittens was last seen alive on March 3.
Sangre Grande police and Region II Homicide investigators are continuing enquiries.
Last Tuesday, police were called to different parts of La Canoa, Santa Cruz, where the decomposing bodies of two elderly men were discovered in two separate incidents.
In the first incident, 82-year-old Leroy James was found in the bed of his Saut D'Eau Road, home.
Hours later police were called to Vicky Trace, where they found the body of Amin Pierre on a bed.
There were no marks of violence on both men.
