A 56-year-old man appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of 19-year-old Prince Charles, which occurred during Carnival Tuesday celebrations.
Police said Shane Purcell, an auto-mechanic of Sangre Grande, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master Liebert in the High Court North ‘B’, on Tuesday.
The next hearing date has been set for June 25.
Charles, 19, a student of the Sangre Grande Secondary School and a national youth boxer was fatally stabbed by an assailant on March 4 along the Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande.
One male suspect was arrested shortly after the incident by officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station.
Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag) Victor, W/Insp Sylvester and Insp (Ag) Simon, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Two.
Purcell was charged with the offence by PC Hardath, also of HBI Region Two, following advice received from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on March 10.
