Days af­ter an el­der­ly res­i­dent was stran­gled and beat­en to death in a home in­va­sion, an­oth­er res­i­dent has been mur­dered in Moru­ga.

Dami­an Sion Don­ny Coop­er, 47, was chopped to death in his Fifth Com­pa­ny Road home yes­ter­day.

His cousin told po­lice that around 8 am he ar­rived for work at a con­struc­tion site next to Coop­er’s home.  

Af­ter learn­ing that Coop­er had not been seen for the morn­ing, he went across to his home to check on him around 11 am.

He found Coop­er’s body slumped over on the ground next to a bed base and bear­ing chop wounds. 

Po­lice were told that Coop­er was last seen walk­ing along the road near his home around 8 pm on Thurs­day.

Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions 3 were last evening try­ing to as­cer­tain why he was killed.  

Over a week ago on Feb­ru­ary 20, the St Mary’s Vil­lage com­mu­ni­ty was rocked by the mur­der of 64-year-old Dur­ma­tee Chance. She and her el­der­ly hus­band were robbed by two men who broke in­to their home around 10.30 pm on Feb­ru­ary 19. Her hus­band was beat­en and tied to a bed, while she was killed on her bed.

The cou­ple was dis­cov­ered by their son the fol­low­ing morn­ing. No one has been ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with Chance’s mur­der.

Moru­ga MP Michelle Ben­jamin and res­i­dents have made re­peat­ed calls for in­creased po­lice pa­trols and ur­gent se­cu­ri­ty mea­sures to pro­tect vil­lagers from crim­i­nal el­e­ments.
