T&T’s Carnival scene is once again pushing the boundaries of luxury and wellness with a new collaboration that blends self-care with the island’s festival energy.
On Carnival Tuesday, festival-goers will experience a unique retreat at The Oasis, an exclusive recharge space offering a blend of beauty, relaxation, and luxury—this time enhanced by the presence of US beauty brand Brown Sugar Babe.
Brown Sugar Babe, a brand renowned for its luxurious body scrubs, oils, and fragrances, is making its Trinidad Carnival debut after a recent appearance at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event. The collaboration aims to offer a much-needed moment of rejuvenation amid the high-energy revelry of Carnival, a time known for its vibrant celebrations and non-stop dancing.
Masqueraders looking for a break from the revelry to recharge will experience a range of self-care stations at The Oasis. These include a massage station powered by Brown Sugar Babe, a beauty station for make-up and hair touch-ups, hammocks, a pool, and a 360-camera booth to capture the moments. Drinks will be provided by Brydens Premium Beverages, further adding to the luxurious atmosphere.
This partnership highlights a growing trend within the Carnival scene, where wellness and luxury are becoming key aspects of the festival experience. The Oasis offers a sanctuary for those seeking balance, allowing them to indulge in self-care while still being part of the Carnival’s excitement.
Brown Sugar Babe was founded in 2018 by Maekaeda Gibbons, a former Bank of America loan officer who turned her passion for aromatherapy into a beauty brand. What started as a personal journey to relieve stress soon grew into a full-fledged business specialising in products designed to complement designer scents and promote self-care.
“Bringing our brand to Trinidad Carnival feels like a full-circle moment,” said Gibbons. “Carnival is deeply rooted in my heritage, and it’s meaningful to be part of such a significant event. Our partnership with The Oasis allows us to create an experience that not only enhances Carnival but also puts the focus on well-being.”
The Oasis, founded by well-known public relations specialist Tenille Clarke and well-known event organiser Krista Clarke, has become a sought-after retreat for festival-goers.
Known for its luxurious offerings, the space serves as a break from the intensity of the celebrations, offering a place where people can relax, rejuvenate, and take care of themselves during one of the world’s most exhilarating festivals.
“We want to provide more than just a rest stop,” said Tenille. “The Oasis is a sanctuary where people can reconnect with themselves amid the excitement. This collaboration with Brown Sugar Babe takes the experience to the next level, adding a focus on beauty, wellness, and self-care.”
Krista Clarke added, “By collaborating with Brown Sugar Babe, we are elevating the festival experience, blending luxury, beauty, and wellness to create an unforgettable moment of self-care.”
With its emphasis on wellness and luxury, The Oasis is tapping into a growing interest in combining cultural experiences with personal well-being. By offering festival-goers a space to unwind and recharge, the collaboration is redefining what it means to fully experience Carnival.
As the Carnival celebrations continue to evolve and align with broader shifts in festival experiences globally, events like these highlight the intersection of tradition, indulgence, and self-care—creating memorable moments that extend beyond the parades and performances.
