Days af­ter a man was de­nied bail on sex­u­al as­sault charges against a ten-year-old girl, his broth­er ap­peared in court on sim­i­lar charges against the child.

Shaf­fick Mo­hammed, 32, of La For­tune Road, Wood­land ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Deli­cia Bethelmy on Wednes­day charged with sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion of a mi­nor and in­ten­tion­al­ly ex­pos­ing a child to pornog­ra­phy.  

He was al­so joint­ly charged with a woman for ob­struc­tion of jus­tice. 

The of­fences were al­leged­ly com­mit­ted be­tween Oc­to­ber and No­vem­ber 2024.

Ob­ject­ing to bail, pros­e­cu­tor An­tho­ny Ja­cob cit­ed the na­ture and se­ri­ous­ness of the of­fences and that he had pend­ing mat­ters, in­clud­ing pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion. 

Mo­hammed was de­nied bail while the woman was grant­ed  $80,000 bail with sure­ty or in the al­ter­na­tive $8,000 cash bail. 

The mat­ter next comes up on Oc­to­ber 9 for a suf­fi­cien­cy hear­ing.

Mo­hammed's broth­er Raf­fie Mo­hammed, 40, ap­peared in court on Feb­ru­ary 12 charged with sev­en counts of sex­u­al of­fences against the girl, in­clud­ing sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion, sex­u­al touch­ing and sex­u­al groom­ing of a mi­nor.

He will re­main in State cus­tody un­til a suf­fi­cien­cy hear­ing on Au­gust 19.
