Officers have seized firearms, several rounds of ammunition, and quantities of narcotics during various exercises on Wednesday.
In the Western Division, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm on February 19, officers conducted a search at the home of two persons of interest.
During the search of an open yard at a Diego Martin residence, officers discovered a bag containing a Colt .45 pistol, fitted with a magazine containing four rounds of .380 ammunition, along with 47 rounds of .45 ammunition and a holster. The items were seized, and investigations into the find are ongoing.
In the Central Division, between midday and 4:00 pm, officers conducted a search in an abandoned building in the vicinity of Mungal Trace, Orange Field Road, Carapichaima. The team discovered a plastic bag containing 75 grams of cocaine. They also searched the ceiling of the building and found a box with 20 rounds of 7.62 ammunition.
In another exercise, officers from the Inter-Agency Task Force and Canine Unit, conducted an exercise between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Harpe Place, Observatory Street, Port-of-Spain. They discovered a container with 262 grams of cannabis, which was subsequently seized.
Investigations into these matters are ongoing.
