The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has announced a reduction in water production at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant, affecting customers in Central and South West Trinidad.
WASA reported that the plant, operated by the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (DESALCOTT), typically supplies 40 million gallons of water per day (mgd). Due to raw water quality issues caused by algae buildup at the plant's intake area, production has been cut back to 30 mgd.
WASA is working closely with DESALCOTT to address the issue and will provide further updates as needed.
