Cumuto MP Dr Rai Ragbir has called on members of the public to trust and take the COVID-19 vaccine. Ragbir got the jab at the St Joseph Health Centre on Saturday. He said "Finally, thank God I have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine. There is always some anxiety about a new vaccine and it is understandable. But the vaccine process has gone through rigorous scientific standards of safety, effectiveness, manufacturing quality. Tens of thousands of persons have been part of the trial. The WHO and other scientific organisations agree to its usage.
"The vaccine will prevent persons from getting seriously ill with COVID if they contract the infection and also protect their families and loved ones, especially those with co-morbidities."
Ragbir said the world was facing an exploding pandemic with no end in sight. "Our frontline healthcare workers continue to show their resilience and commitment in this Coronavirus battle. The vaccine is one of the tools in fighting the pandemic. We need to take the vaccine so that we can return to some form of normalcy.
"Do your part in saving your family, community, country and the world at large."
The UNC MP extended condolences to the relatives of Franklin Khan, the Minister of Energy, who has died.
