A 34-year-old man from Enterprise was arrested, and a significant quantity of cannabis was seized during intelligence-led operations in the Central Division yesterday.
Acting on intelligence, officers conducted an operation in an area west of the Uriah Butler Highway, near the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. During a search, they discovered a black plastic bag hidden under a parked forty-foot container trailer. Upon inspection, the bag contained ten brown plastic packets filled with cannabis. The seized narcotics weighed approximately 5.4 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $100,000 TTD. Investigations into the seizure are ongoing, led by Cpl. Carter.
In a separate operation conducted between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM on the same day, officers searched a residence on Enterprise Street, Chaguanas. During the search, they found four plastic packets containing cannabis, weighing approximately 1.8 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $35,000 TTD. As a result, a 34-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody at the Chaguanas Police Station. Investigations are continuing, led by PC Ramnath of the Special Operations Unit.
The operations were led by ACP Richard Smith and Snr. Supt. Roger Alexander, with direct supervision from Ag. ASP St. Clair and Sgt. Baptiste. The TTPS K-9 Unit and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) Special Operations Force (SOF) also provided assistance.
