A 34-year-old man from En­ter­prise was ar­rest­ed, and a sig­nif­i­cant quan­ti­ty of cannabis was seized dur­ing in­tel­li­gence-led op­er­a­tions in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion yes­ter­day.

Act­ing on in­tel­li­gence, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an op­er­a­tion in an area west of the Uri­ah But­ler High­way, near the Ca­roni Bird Sanc­tu­ary. Dur­ing a search, they dis­cov­ered a black plas­tic bag hid­den un­der a parked forty-foot con­tain­er trail­er. Up­on in­spec­tion, the bag con­tained ten brown plas­tic pack­ets filled with cannabis. The seized nar­cotics weighed ap­prox­i­mate­ly 5.4 kilo­grams, with an es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of $100,000 TTD. In­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the seizure are on­go­ing, led by Cpl. Carter.

In a sep­a­rate op­er­a­tion con­duct­ed be­tween 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM on the same day, of­fi­cers searched a res­i­dence on En­ter­prise Street, Ch­agua­nas. Dur­ing the search, they found four plas­tic pack­ets con­tain­ing cannabis, weigh­ing ap­prox­i­mate­ly 1.8 kilo­grams, with an es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of $35,000 TTD. As a re­sult, a 34-year-old man was ar­rest­ed and tak­en in­to cus­tody at the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing, led by PC Ram­nath of the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Unit.

The op­er­a­tions were led by ACP Richard Smith and Snr. Supt. Roger Alexan­der, with di­rect su­per­vi­sion from Ag. ASP St. Clair and Sgt. Bap­tiste. The TTPS K-9 Unit and the Trinidad and To­ba­go De­fence Force (TTDF) Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Force (SOF) al­so pro­vid­ed as­sis­tance.
