A family of three from Robert Street, Bank Village in Carapichaima has been left homeless following a fire that destroyed their home on Tuesday.
The victims, ages 34, 32, and 60, lost all their belongings in the blaze.
Nathaniel Smith, who lived in the house, told Guardian Media that he was at work when he received a call informing him of the fire around 4 pm.
"I don't know exactly what happened. I was on the job when I got the call.
"We have lost everything. All we got left is what we had on our backs," he lamented.
Fire officials from the Chaguanas Fire Station led by FSO Bailey are yet to determine the cause of the blaze that destroyed the split-level wooden and concrete structure. Two vehicles - a Honda Civic and a wrecked Toyota Hilux - were also destroyed in the fire.
Fire officials said initial investigations revealed that after the fire broke out it spread quickly. There were no reports of any explosion before it occurred. Fire officers are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
Anyone wishing to offer help can contact Smith at 314-0454.
Investigations are continuing.
