A fam­i­ly of three from Robert Street, Bank Vil­lage in Cara­pichaima has been left home­less fol­low­ing a fire that de­stroyed their home on Tues­day.

The vic­tims, ages 34, 32, and 60, lost all their be­long­ings in the blaze.

Nathaniel Smith, who lived in the house, told Guardian Me­dia that he was at work when he re­ceived a call in­form­ing him of the fire around 4 pm.

"I don't know ex­act­ly what hap­pened. I was on the job when I got the call.

"We have lost every­thing. All we got left is what we had on our backs," he lament­ed.

Fire of­fi­cials from the Ch­agua­nas Fire Sta­tion led by FSO Bai­ley are yet to de­ter­mine the cause of the blaze that de­stroyed the split-lev­el wood­en and con­crete struc­ture. Two ve­hi­cles - a Hon­da Civic and a wrecked Toy­ota Hilux - were al­so de­stroyed in the fire.

Fire of­fi­cials said ini­tial in­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that af­ter the fire broke out it spread quick­ly. There were no re­ports of any ex­plo­sion be­fore it oc­curred. Fire of­fi­cers are still try­ing to de­ter­mine what caused the fire.
