Three alleged gang affiliates have been detained under State of Emergency (SoE) regulations.
The order came from Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds, who yesterday issued the three detention orders under the Emergency Powers Regulations.
The first detention order, published as Legal Notice No 54 of 2025 in the Trinidad and Tobago Gazette, was issued against Sterling Walcott, of Pepper Village, Fyzabad. Authorities identified Walcott as the leader of the Oropouche Gang, a criminal organisation operating within Oropouche and neighbouring areas.
The gang is accused of involvement in multiple murders, as well as narcotics and firearms trafficking. The detention order further alleges that Walcott was planning violent retaliatory attacks utilising high-powered weapons.
A second detention order, published as Legal Notice No 55 of 2025, was issued for Akhim Ravello, also known as “Sabby” or “Sabbie,” of Duke Street, St Mary’s Village, South Oropouche. Ravello is also alleged to be a member of the Oropouche Gang.
The third detention order, published as Legal Notice No. 58 of 2025, was directed at Tyereeke Williamson, also known as “Loverboy” or “Russian,” of Upper Belmont Valley Road, Belmont.
Williamson is alleged to be a high-ranking enforcer in the Rasta City/7 Gang, specifically the Alien faction.
All three individuals have been ordered to be detained at the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre in Santa Rosa, Arima, or at any other facility as directed by the minister.
Hinds said the detentions were necessary to preserve public safety and prevent violence.
