Rachel Vin­cent and Shunelle Sawh com­bined to lead Cal­drac Achiev­ers to a re­sound­ing ten-wick­et win over Play­ers Sports Club (SC) in the round one ac­tion of T&T Women’s Crick­et As­so­ci­a­tion’s (TTWCA) Pre­mier­ship Di­vi­sion 50-Over League on Sun­day.

At Cal­drac Ground in Cal­i­for­nia, Play­ers SC bat­ted first and was all out for 108 in 28.3 overs. Na­dia Mo­hammed was the main con­trib­u­tor to runs with 21 while her team­mates Sher­ine Ramkissoon added 17 and Gle­n­e­sia Dodough post­ed 13.

Down at the oth­er end, Steffie Soogrim had the best bowl­ing fig­ures of the match with 3-20 and got good sup­port from Maya Har­ry with 2-16 and Tiffany As­son with 2-20.

The Achiev­ers raced to the win­ning tar­get thanks to an un­beat­en 109-run open­ing stand be­tween na­tion­al crick­eters Vin­cent and Sawh.

The pair need­ed 19.1 overs to reach 109 as Vin­cent pro­duced an un­beat­en half-cen­tu­ry, 52 not out off 53 balls.

Sawh, a for­mer West In­dies Un­der-19 play­er, scored a pa­tient un­de­feat­ed 38 not out off 67 balls to guide Achiev­ers to their open­ing win.

At Re­form Recre­ation Ground in Gas­par­il­lo, de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Pow­er­gen al­so opened a com­fort­able ten-wick­et vic­to­ry over new­com­ers AC Women.

AC Women, bat­ting first, were bowled out for 30 in just 10 overs. This was thanks to the bowl­ing of for­mer West In­dies and T&T off-spin­ner Anisa Mo­hammed with an im­pres­sive 3-4, along with two wick­ets from Nata­nia Lal­loo (2-4) and Kim­ber­ly John (2-13).

In re­ply, Pow­er­gen just need­ed 3.4 overs to reach the tar­get of 34/0, led by the bat­ting of Sha­nia Ab­dool with 22 not out.

In the oth­er match in the di­vi­sion, the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies Women’s Crick­et Club (UWI WCC) al­so start­ed with a win against Tech­nocrats.

Led by for­mer West In­dies women’s A team cap­tain Re­niece Boyce, UWI WCC earned an eight-wick­et win af­ter bowl­ing out Tech­nocrats for just 70.

Boyce scored 38 not out to lead the re­ply as UWI WCC reached the win­ning tar­get of 71/2 in 11.3 overs.

In the TTCWA’s Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion 30-Over League, Vic­to­ria Crick­et Club de­feat­ed Moses Lendore Crick­et Acad­e­my (ML­CA) by ten wick­ets at the Daren Gan­ga Recre­ation Ground in Bar­rack­pore and at the Young­sters Recre­ation Ground in Fe­lic­i­ty, Sital Young­sters beat North Zone by 79 runs.
