HO­BART – Bar­ba­di­an Ja­cob Bethell blast­ed a half cen­tu­ry and took two wick­ets, but his Mel­bourne Rene­gades still lost by four wick­ets to the Hol­bart Hur­ri­canes when the Big Bash League in Aus­tralia con­tin­ued on Tues­day.

Bethell lashed 87 from 50 balls with four six­es and eight fours in the Rene­gades’ to­tal of 154 for sev­en from their 20 overs.

He came to the crease with his side strug­gling at 23 for three in the fifth over, and to­geth­er with Tim Seifert, who scored 24 and Will Suther­land (15), helped the Rene­gades re­cov­er.

Ri­ley Mered­ith was the Hur­ri­canes’ top bowler with 3-36.

Bethell then re­turned to grabbed 2-29 with his off spin, how­ev­er, the Hur­ri­canes coast­ed to 155 for six off 19.4 overs to re­main top of the ta­ble with 13 points from their eight games.

The Rene­gades, mean­while, re­main root­ed at the bot­tom with just six points from their nine games.
