HOBART – Barbadian Jacob Bethell blasted a half century and took two wickets, but his Melbourne Renegades still lost by four wickets to the Holbart Hurricanes when the Big Bash League in Australia continued on Tuesday.
Bethell lashed 87 from 50 balls with four sixes and eight fours in the Renegades’ total of 154 for seven from their 20 overs.
He came to the crease with his side struggling at 23 for three in the fifth over, and together with Tim Seifert, who scored 24 and Will Sutherland (15), helped the Renegades recover.
Riley Meredith was the Hurricanes’ top bowler with 3-36.
Bethell then returned to grabbed 2-29 with his off spin, however, the Hurricanes coasted to 155 for six off 19.4 overs to remain top of the table with 13 points from their eight games.
The Renegades, meanwhile, remain rooted at the bottom with just six points from their nine games.
