A Venezuelan man’s attempt to escape police custody was thwarted yesterday morning when officers from the Cunupia Police Station quickly apprehended him.
According to a police report, the man had been arrested and brought to the station sometime after 9 am. Upon arrival, officers removed his handcuffs to conduct fingerprinting. However, the suspect seized the moment to bolt out of the station, attempting to evade custody.
Officers, including members of the Criminal Investigations Department, responded swiftly and launched a search in the surrounding area. The man was eventually found hiding in a dasheen patch behind the station by PC Tannis and other officers.
He was immediately rearrested and returned to the station, where he now faces additional charges of escaping lawful custody.
