US Embassy: No decision yet on entry requirements to the US

De­spite re­ports in the USA that soon, on­ly ful­ly vac­ci­nat­ed trav­ellers will be al­lowed in­to the coun­try, to­day their em­bassy here is say­ing that no def­i­nite de­ci­sion has been made.

Both Reuters and CNN re­port­ed yes­ter­day that an un­named White House of­fi­cial said the new pol­i­cy will be an­nounced soon.

Present­ly all that is re­quired for en­try in­to that coun­try is a neg­a­tive PCR test tak­en three cal­en­dar days be­fore trav­el.

The Guardian Me­dia news team reached out to the US Em­bassy in Trinidad and To­ba­go to find out which vac­cines will be ac­cept­ed, if in fact a turn­around in pol­i­cy is com­ing.

The Em­bassy re­spond­ed by say­ing it does not have any in­for­ma­tion to share as no de­ci­sions have yet been made on how to re-open. It al­so as­sured the Guardian Me­dia news team that when it learns more, it will share the in­for­ma­tion.

The US Em­bassy added that the US does be­lieve that vac­cines are the best way to save lives and end the pan­dem­ic.

For­eign Af­fairs Min­is­ter, Dr Amery Browne, told Guardian Me­dia yes­ter­day that the re­ports in the US are not of­fi­cial and are un­ver­i­fied.
