Despite reports in the USA that soon, only fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed into the country, today their embassy here is saying that no definite decision has been made.
Both Reuters and CNN reported yesterday that an unnamed White House official said the new policy will be announced soon.
Presently all that is required for entry into that country is a negative PCR test taken three calendar days before travel.
The Guardian Media news team reached out to the US Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago to find out which vaccines will be accepted, if in fact a turnaround in policy is coming.
The Embassy responded by saying it does not have any information to share as no decisions have yet been made on how to re-open. It also assured the Guardian Media news team that when it learns more, it will share the information.
The US Embassy added that the US does believe that vaccines are the best way to save lives and end the pandemic.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr Amery Browne, told Guardian Media yesterday that the reports in the US are not official and are unverified.
