A shooting incident around 4.30 pm near the St James Market has left one man dead and three people injured, as the annual Carnival celebrations wind down here.
The incident took place among spectators and Carnival masqueraders and came just hours after acting Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin had reported an incident-free Carnival.
A suspect has been held in connection with the attack.
The shooting forced the shutdown of Carnival celebrations in the area, as police cordoned off the scene to conduct investigations.
