Two men were each sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour by a Master of the High Court, after they were charged with house breaking and larceny.
Dindial Gajadhar, aka ‘Plough’, 41, and Naindra Ramdath, aka ‘Bellies’, 42, both unemployed, with no fixed place of abode, were charged with the offences when they appeared before Master Grey in the High Court on Thursday.
They both pleaded guilty to the charges and were sentenced.
The duo was arrested by officers of the Penal Criminal Investigations Department, following a report of house breaking and larceny against a Penal man on February 8.
Investigations resulted in the recovery of a number of stolen items including an Air Rifle and a quantity of jewellery.
Meanwhile, a Penal couple was arrested by officers of the Barrackpore Police Station in connection with receiving stolen articles.
A male victim reported to police that he secured his Penal home around 5 am, on Thursday and went to work. He alleges when he returned, he discovered the house broken into, ransacked and a quantity of items missing.
Investigations resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman and the recovery of all the stolen items.
