President Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) Martin Lum Kin advised in a voice note this morning, against using a circulating video of the Moruga Secondary School incident to jump to conclusions, and to be wary, because they can be taken out of context.

Lum Kin said the snippets might not have reflected the full situation and could be misleading.

TTUTA said it's important to await the results of the investigations before making judgments or decisions.

The association said the incident highlighted the need for meaningful intervention at not only the school but the community and at the home.

Police have launched an investigation into a fight between a male student and teacher at Moruga Secondary School, the second violent incident involving staff and students there in a week. Videos of the altercation, showing both parties exchanging blows and ending up on the floor, have since shared widely on social media.

Both the student and teacher were taken for medical treatment.
