Hours after the Postal Workers' Union said they rejected TT Post's 4% offer, TT Post is now saying the union failed to attend a scheduled negotiation meeting today, despite having agreed to the date last month.
The union had criticised the choice of Drew Manor in Santa Cruz as the venue for negotiations, citing cost concerns saying TTPost's Piarco headquarters would have been a better location.
TT Post said the no-show disrupted the agreed-upon negotiation process and delayed discussions on key issues, including allowances and non-pecuniary items related to salaries.
TT Post said the Postal Workers Union did not submit its counterproposals for the bargaining periods 2011-2013, 2014-2016, and 2017-2019, which were due by the first week of January 2025. They said the counterproposals were necessary for progressing negotiations. TTPost sees the union's absence and failure to provide the expected documents as a disregard for the negotiation process and a setback to efforts aimed at achieving mutually beneficial agreements for employees.
TT Post said it remains committed to continuing negotiations and hopes for the union's participation at the next meeting on January 24, 2025.
