Stabbing suspect identified by victim, arrested at hospital

An 18-year-old woman who was stabbed af­ter an ar­gu­ment with a school­girl in St Joseph iden­ti­fied her at­tack­er while wait­ing for treat­ment at a hos­pi­tal on Fri­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent be­gan when the woman and her friend were walk­ing on the St Joseph Sa­van­nah to­wards the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route, when they no­ticed a group of school­girls with a man.

The woman re­port­ed­ly got in­to an ar­gu­ment with one of the girls, as the man pulled out a knife and stabbed her once in her pelvis be­fore run­ning away.

Po­lice of­fi­cers who were in the area took the wound­ed woman to hos­pi­tal, where she no­ticed her at­tack­er sit­ting on a near­by seat.

The woman point­ed him to po­lice who ap­proached the man and cau­tioned him of the re­port made.

Po­lice said the sus­pect ap­peared to have in­juries to the left side of his fore­head and both feet. The man, who is from Tacarigua, was de­tained and ques­tioned.
