An 18-year-old woman who was stabbed after an argument with a schoolgirl in St Joseph identified her attacker while waiting for treatment at a hospital on Friday afternoon.
Police said the incident began when the woman and her friend were walking on the St Joseph Savannah towards the Priority Bus Route, when they noticed a group of schoolgirls with a man.
The woman reportedly got into an argument with one of the girls, as the man pulled out a knife and stabbed her once in her pelvis before running away.
Police officers who were in the area took the wounded woman to hospital, where she noticed her attacker sitting on a nearby seat.
The woman pointed him to police who approached the man and cautioned him of the report made.
Police said the suspect appeared to have injuries to the left side of his forehead and both feet. The man, who is from Tacarigua, was detained and questioned.
