Police officers from the Chaguanas Police Station arrested Joshua Garraway, the second patient who escaped from the Forensic Ward at the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital on February 12.
Police said that Garraway, 33, who was charged with robbery with violence, was apprehended at a house in Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, on Monday. Officers said the arrest was made without incident and was intelligence-driven.
The other escapee, 40-year-old Everson Hazelwood, who is charged with murder, was recaptured in Balandra by an off-duty prison officer before being handed over to officers of the Matura Police Station on February 13. Both men were discovered missing during routine checks by security at the St Ann’s Hospital around 5.30 am on February 12.
In a statement issued the day the prisoners escaped from the facility, the North West Regional Health Authority confirmed that the men had left without authorisation.
They were initially sent to the Forensic Ward for psychiatric evaluation.
