The private aircraft that went missing on Friday, after departing St Vincent en route to Tobago, has been found.
According to media reports in St Vincent, authorities there confirmed that the small aircraft was located yesterday and its two occupants were unharmed.
However, no details have been released on where the aircraft was found or the nationalities of those on board.
The disappearance of the plane, shortly after taking off from Argyle International Airport in St Vincent before midday, prompted a regional response, with multiple agencies in Trinidad and Tobago also becoming involved.
Minister of Civil Aviation Eli Zakour said the aircraft reportedly had five hours of fuel and was expected to arrive in Crown Point around 12.30 pm.
Regional pilots had been asked to be on the lookout for an oil spill that could indicate a possible crash.
Flightradar24 data showed the aircraft, registration HI-1145, had made several trips between Argyle and Canouan airports in St Vincent in the days prior to its departure.
As the aircraft flew south of St Vincent’s airspace, all contact with air traffic control was lost after its transponder stopped transmitting.
The incident has also drawn the attention of St Vincent’s Security Minister St Clair Leacock, who told local media that several state agencies are monitoring the situation.
