This country’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 1,416 following confirmation from the Ministry of Health that three more people have lost their lives to the disease—two of whom were elderly males and one elderly female—all with comorbidities.
However, the Ministry reports a drop in the number of new infections, with 123 people testing positive for the disease, compared with 257 reported on September 18th. The new positive cases are based on samples taken between September 15th and 18th and mean that there are now 4,048 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, at this time.
There have been several recoveries, with 33 persons having been discharged from public health facilities. In addition, there have been 124 recovered community cases, namely those persons who previously were COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home, who subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation.

Also in its update for today, Sunday 19 September 2021, the Ministry notes that currently, some 463,504 people in the country are fully vaccinated, from either a one-dose or two-dose regime.
And some 558,486 people have received their first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as of today, Friday, the Ministry’s update reports.
The Health Ministry also notes in its update:
● 280 persons are still hospitalised for COVID-19; up from 277 patients on Saturday.
● 3,585 persons are in home self-isolation; up from 3,491 patients on Saturday.
● 150 persons are in State quarantine facilities; no change from 150 patients on Saturday.
● 60 patients are still recovering in step/down facilities; no change from 60 patients on Saturday.
