A 46-year-old man was beaten and robbed of his car and valuables after offering a ride to a stranger in Diego Martin early Wednesday morning.
Police said the victim had dropped off his cousin in downtown Port-of- Spain around 3.40 am when a man approached him, claiming to be stranded and requesting a lift to Cemetery Street, Diego Martin.
The driver agreed, but upon reaching the destination, the stranger placed him in a headlock and ordered him to drive further.
Two other attackers then entered the vehicle, assaulted the driver, and stole $2,000, documents, and three mobile phones. The men pushed the driver out of the car and escaped in his silver Toyota Fielder Wagon.
Officers from the West End Police Station are continuing investigations into the incident.
