A 72-year-old woman, her daughter and son-in-law were able to escape a fire at their home, by jumping out the window of the two-storey building in San Juan on Tuesday night.
Police said the woman and her family were on the second floor of their home on the corner of Saddle and Concord Roads around 7.30 pm when they noticed the air conditioning unit began blowing hot air.
On further checks they realised their roof and parts of the building were on fire and tried to extinguish it but were unsuccessful.
The trio jumped from a broken window on the second floor, injuring themselves from the fall.
They were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they remained up to Wednesday morning.
Officers of the Fire Service were called in and extinguished the blaze.
San Juan Police, members of the defence force and technicians from the T&T Electricity Commission (TTEC), were also called in and disconnected cables to the premises.
