A 29-year-old man who went to Corinth Hills in Ste Madeleine to collect money for Carnival-related activities was shot dead on Sunday night.
Police said Trey Bernard of Harmony Hall, Marabella, died in the driveway in front of a resident’s home at Ninis Lane.
Bernard, his girlfriend and her sister were at her home in Marabella when they left to meet a man to collect some money.
Police said they arrived at the location in a Deliver Me TT Service vehicle, driven by a female driver, around 8.40 pm.
Bernard was speaking on his cellphone trying to get the correct location when he came out of the vehicle and was standing on the side of the road.
After a few minutes, a white Tiida pulled up and an occupant came out and fired several shots at him.
The Deliver Me TT Service driver got scared and drove off as Bernard slumped to the ground and died.
Bernard’s girlfriend demanded that the driver stop the vehicle, which she did.
She came out in Cocoyea Village and the driver drove off.
An off-duty police officer saw her crying and intervened, alerting officers to what happened.
Crime scene investigators retrieved eleven spent 9mm shells and two projectiles close to Bernard’s body.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3 are investigating.
