Police officers conducted several anti-crime operations across Trinidad between last Friday and Saturday, resulting in arrests and the seizure of illegal items.
According to the TTPS, in the Port of Spain Division, police executed house searches in areas such as Pashley Street, Beetham Gardens, Belmont Terrace, Rudolph Charles Link Road, and Morvant Old Road.
During the operation, officers discovered 271 grammes of cannabis, camouflage clothing, and a black ski mask at a residence in Belmont Terrace. A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into a shooting incident and an outstanding warrant.
Meanwhile, in Carenage, officers seized an AR-platform rifle and 10 rounds of 5.56 ammunition during a crime eradication exercise.
Police said officers acting on intelligence searched an abandoned lot and structure at the corner of Smith Hill and Western Main Road, where the items were found.
No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing under the supervision of PC Williams. Police also conducted patrols in known crime hotspots within the Carenage district.
In Morvant, police uncovered a block of compressed marijuana weighing 483.3 grammes during a search of a bushy area along Pitch Road on Saturday. The marijuana, valued at approximately $14,499, was seized as part of the ongoing anti-crime efforts.
The operation in Morvant was led by Acting Senior Superintendent Edwards, Superintendent Birch, and Acting Assistant Superintendent Callender.
