The man who was killed as he attempted to rob a businessman in Port-of-Spain on Monday afternoon has been identified as 21-year-old Isaiah Taitt.
Police reported that just before 1 pm on Monday, Taitt, of Maturita, Arima, along with two others, attempted to rob a delivery driver during his drop-off along Charlotte Street.
The driver was standing near his vehicle at the corner of Queen and Charlotte streets when he was confronted by the three men, one armed with a gun.
The bandits pushed the driver to the ground. However, the man kept his wits about himself sufficiently enough to pull out his licenced pistol and shoot one of his attackers several times, killing him.
After seeing Taitt fall to the ground, the other men ran off. One went along Queen Street and onto Duncan Street, while the other went along Charlotte Street, through Eastside Plaza. —Jensen La Vende
