The man who was killed as he at­tempt­ed to rob a busi­ness­man in Port-of-Spain on Mon­day af­ter­noon has been iden­ti­fied as 21-year-old Isa­iah Taitt.

Po­lice re­port­ed that just be­fore 1 pm on Mon­day, Taitt, of Ma­tu­ri­ta, Ari­ma, along with two oth­ers, at­tempt­ed to rob a de­liv­ery dri­ver dur­ing his drop-off along Char­lotte Street.

The dri­ver was stand­ing near his ve­hi­cle at the cor­ner of Queen and Char­lotte streets when he was con­front­ed by the three men, one armed with a gun.

The ban­dits pushed the dri­ver to the ground. How­ev­er, the man kept his wits about him­self suf­fi­cient­ly enough to pull out his li­cenced pis­tol and shoot one of his at­tack­ers sev­er­al times, killing him.

Af­ter see­ing Taitt fall to the ground, the oth­er men ran off. One went along Queen Street and on­to Dun­can Street, while the oth­er went along Char­lotte Street, through East­side Plaza. —Jensen La Vende
