A businessman and a farmer were arrested following a major drug bust in Bon Accord on Thursday afternoon.
Officers seized large quantities of illegal drugs, cash, and drug-related equipment during an operation at Kilgwyn Bay Road, near the Bon Accord Government Primary School. The Tobago Divisional Task Force along with the Canine Unit, conducted the operation between 2 pm and 5 pm.
It was led by ACP Oswain Subero, coordinated by Snr Supt Earl Elie, and spearheaded by ASP Leetang and Sgt Harris.
Following weeks of surveillance and intelligence as part of an SoE operation, officers raided the home and business place of the suspect. They seized 2,972 grams of cannabis, 256 grams of cocaine, 28 ecstasy pills weighing 15 grams, and five grams of a substance believed to be crystal meth.
Officers also found and confiscated pepper spray, as well as TTD$377,373 and USD$355 in US currency. Several scales, a vacuum sealer, and packaging materials were also seized.
A known narcotics offender, who was also at the location, was searched, and officers allegedly found 14 grams of cocaine in his possession. Both men were arrested for drug trafficking offences.
