An 11-month-old boy has died after he reportedly suffocated on vomit at his family's Cumuto home on Sunday morning.
Police said the baby's mother fed him a bottle at around 3.45 am and put him to sleep.
She awoke at around 5.30 am and on checking on him, noticed he had vomit surrounding his mouth with his comforter still in his mouth.
The woman removed the comforter and noticed even more vomit in the child's mouth and realised he was breathing irregularly.
An ambulance was called in which took the baby to the Arima Health Facility where he was declared dead at 7.08 am that morning.
Investigators said the baby had a history of several falls and was warded at the Arima Health Facility in the past.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.
