The baby’s mother dropped off the toddlerat the home of a 19-year-old babysitter at Friendship Village at 7 pm on Carnival Monday (March 3).
Officers said the babysitter reported that at 5 pm the following day, she went to the washroom and left the baby in the care of her 15-year-old brother.
On her way back she heard a commotion, and her brother told her the baby had fallen through the gallery bannister into a drain.
Two hours later, the mother returned to pick up her daughter and was told that the baby was taken to the hospital because she had fallen into a drain and got a cut on her head.
