The latest update from the Ministry of Health is confirming 12 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 407 patients.
This latest statistic marks a further reduction in the number of active cases nationally, as the figure for yesterday (Monday) stood at 420 patients.
In its update for today, Tuesday 29 December 2020, the Ministry also is reporting no new deaths from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, with the national toll holding at 125 persons.
The Health Ministry also notes in its update:
● 30 persons are still hospitalised for COVID-19; no change from Monday.
● 304 persons are in home self-isolation; down from 346 patients on Monday.
● 133 persons are in State quarantine facilities; down from 132 patients on Monday.
● 41 patients are still recovering in step/down facilities; no change from Monday.

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO COVID-19 (NOVEL CORONAVIRUS) UPDATE #588
As part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Health continues to provide up-to-date information on the country’s status in this regard.
The following is a clinical update as at 4 pm on Tuesday 29 December 2020. The population is reminded to rely solely on information from official sources, such as the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health provides the following additional information:
● 12 additional persons have tested positive for COVID-19. These new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
● 1 person has been discharged from public health facilities.
● There have been 24 recovered community cases. Recovered community cases refer to persons who were previously COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home and subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation.

Members of the public are reminded that they must adhere to the ‘New Normal’ recommendations and take the following personal health measures to protect themselves and their loved ones from COVID-19:
● Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when you go out in public
● Keep your distance from others (6 feet)
● Stay home if you are ill
● Clean then sanitise surfaces (e.g. tabletops, door knobs and cell phones)
● Wash your hands often with soap and waters or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser
● Cough into a tissue or into the cook of your elbow
● Avoid touching your face
If you or a loved one develops symptoms of COVID-19, please call the hotline 877-WELL or 800-WELL (9355) for further guidance.
If the person is severely ill, call the 811 (emergency hotline) or call ahead to the Accident and Emergency Department of your nearest hospital for help and go in immediately.
