Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL) yesterday announced two executive appointments, with Parasram (Vic) Salickram and David Robinson set to take up senior positions at the financial holdings company and its T&T subsidiary Republic Bank Ltd from January 1, 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
RFHL said Salickram will become senior group vice president of RFHL and senior vice president of Republic Bank, after more than two decades with the Republic Group.
It said that since joining Republic Bank in 2004, Salickram has held several key portfolios, including positions at subsidiaries in the Dominican Republic and Barbados.
His previous roles include chief financial officer, chief risk officer, vice president of Republic Bank and group vice president of RFHL.
Robinson will be appointed group vice president of RFHL and vice president of Republic Bank.
He joined the organisation in 1996 and has since held several managerial positions, including general manager of Republic Wealth Management Limited and general manager of Treasury.
Robinson also served as acting managing director of Republic Bank (Suriname) N.V. and acting managing director of Republic Bank (Guyana).
The appointments were announced in a news release sent yesterday by RFHL.
The appointments came amid changes to the group’s leadership succession plans. On Thursday, RFHL reversed its publicly announced decision to appoint Richard Sammy as its next group president and chief executive officer, replacing him with Karen Yip Chuck less than nine months after naming him to succeed Nigel Baptiste.
In a news release yesterday, RFHL confirmed the change after Guardian Media first reported Sammy’s departure. The group did not explain why its board had changed course.
Sammy left the institution on Wednesday, more than two months before he was due to assume the post on January 1, 2027.
