Energy Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal has welcomed the successful fabrication and loadout of the Coconut jacket, a development he expects to support natural gas supplies to Trinidad and Tobago’s petrochemical and downstream industries.
In a social media post yesterday, Moonilal congratulated TOFCO, EOG Resources and BP on the milestone, which comes days after the loadout and installation of the Manatee jacket.
The Coconut project is being pursued by EOG and BP, with first gas expected in 2027. Moonilal linked the project to efforts to strengthen gas supplies for the country’s energy-based industries.
The development follows successful negotiations by the National Gas Company (NGC) to secure 100 per cent of EOG’s Coconut gas, which is expected to contribute to the country’s natural gas supply.
Moonilal also credited the local teams involved in the project, recognising their technical expertise and work in bringing the fabrication and loadout to completion.
