The University of T&T (UTT) won the Championship and Premiership Divisional Knockout titles when the Courts All Sectors Netball league continued Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua on Thursday night.
In the Premiership Division, UTT, led by a dominant performance from Shaniya Morgan, who buried 59 goals from 73 attempts, crushed Unit Trust Corporation 85-25 in a lopsided encounter.
Kalifa Mc Collin-Lopez added 26 goals from 33 attempts, who led 25-7, 43-13 and 66-18 at the end of the first three quarters, while UTC had a team-high eight goals from 15 attempts from Liliah Matthews, with Genesis Clifford adding seven from 11, Roanna Dalrymple six from seven, and Crystal Noel Cockburn four from nine attempts in the loss.
In the Championship Division decider, UTT had a much tougher battle on their hands as they needed the five-minute extra-time period to get past MIC 48-45 after the match ended 38-all at the end of the four quarters.
For champions UTT, Jelissa Goodridge was the main contributor with 34 goals from 44 attempts, while Aquila Blugh chipped in with 13 from 23, and Dacia Benjamin had one of two attempts with MIC’s 45 goals coming from Tiffany Gonzales, who sank 28 of 37 attempts, and Erica Job with 17 from 32.
In the day’s opening match, Defence Force battled past Fire Youth 23-17 in the Alternate Division final inspired by Maria La Foucade’s 17 goals from 19 attempts.
