The Sicarios Billiards Club is creating quite a stir on the National Pool League circuit.

Their First Division team has won three in a row, and the Premier Division team is in the midst of a four-match winning streak.

On Tuesday, the Division 1 team played host to Lucky Sports at Billiards Place in Aranguez and came away with an impressive 4-1 win.

Dylon King got the hosts off to a winning start against Kardaish Gobindass, and despite losing the first frame, got the better of his opponent four frames to two.

Mikkel Govia stretched the Sicarios lead, disposing of Vashish Dalipsingh 4-1, inclusive of a break and run in the third rack and a nine-ball combination (tackle) in the fourth.

Dalipsingh’s lone win came in the second frame. The doubles match was next and featured Sicarios vice-captain Andre Creece and Sachin Ramnarine against Lucky Sports captain Dimitri Nanan and Damian Solomon.

The visiting pair won the first two racks, but the hosts hit back to lead three to two and looked set to register a come-from-behind win, but some bad misses late in frames six and seven offered up some chances for Nanan and Solomon, which they gladly accepted, 4-3, the score line in favour of the Lucky Sports duo.

With the match score Sicarios 2, Lucky Sports 1, a win for the hosts would seal the match, and Allan Lawrence, who was undefeated going into the round 6 match, was once again clinical, beating Ronnie Moralli, 4-1. Sicarios captain John Eastman would finish off proceedings against a very competitive Franco Hernandez.

Eastman lost the first frame but bounced back to win three straight racks. Hernandez was not prepared to give up and fought back to tie things up at 3-3. Unfortunately for him, Eastman finished stronger, formalising the 4-1 result.

The win propels the Sicarios Billiards Club Division 1 team up the table from fifth to fourth place.

Meanwhile, at the same venue, the Sicarios Premier Division team was playing at home against The Annihilators. Both teams made the jump from the first division into the premiership after several players on their respective squads were promoted in rank from B class to A on Wednesday.

The Sicarios seem to be having an easier time adjusting to life in the higher division, while The Annihilators continue to struggle.

The Sicarios Premier Division team is captained by Adrian Logie, who, incidentally, is one of two players in their line-up who are ranked as B-Class players.

The Round 6 match-up showed the gulf in class as the hosts condemned the visitors to a sixth straight loss.

Fred Graham opened for the Sicarios and jumped out to a three-nil lead against Rishi Sampath, but what should have been an early night turned into a marathon battle of attrition lasting just shy of two hours. Sampath refused to go away quietly, winning four frames on the trot to turn the tables and lead 4-3. Graham, a 65-year-old veteran of the game, called on all his years of experience to not succumb to what would have been an embarrassing loss and found back some form, along with some luck, to close out the game 5-4. Adrian Mora was next for the hosts, drawn to play Kamal Hosein. The two shared the first four frames, with Mora winning the first two and Hosein the next two. Mora, who is also the manager of the

Sicarios Billiards Club opened up a two-rack lead with the sixth frame ending with a six-nine combination. Hosein pulled a frame back to trail 3-4 and made a fatal error in the eighth frame, lining up the two ball with the nine ball, which Mora accepted the gift with the easiest of combinations. Sicarios vice-captain Albi Knights and former captain Kevin Browne were drawn to play in the doubles against Barry Ashmeed Syne and Guniss Seecharan. The visitors struggled to come to terms with the table, constantly snookering each other. The hosts capitalised on those errors to win 5-2. Muhammad Rahman, the other B-ranked player on the home team, came up against Shastri Baboolal, who was subbing for Leston Shade. Rahman, aka Doc, took control early and ran out to a 3-nil lead. Baboolal, however, showed glimpses of brilliance winning the next two racks. Rahman restored some order with wins in frames six and seven to take the game 5-2. Logie would give the Sicarios team their first 5-nil sweep of the NPL 9 Ball league with a 5-3 win against Ronnie Ramsaran. Ramsaran won the opening game, but Logie would show his class by winning the next four racks. Ramsaran showed some class of his own, winning frames six and seven, but the task proved too much, and the Sicarios skipper completed a 5-3 victory. That win pushed the Sicarios Billiards Club to the top of the Premier Division standings with four wins and one loss. In fact, the top four teams in the Premier Division all have four wins and one loss.
