The T&T Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) has announced a landmark partnership with KFC T&T for its upcoming 2026 women’s cricket competitions. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the association as it continues to expand opportunities for female cricketers across the nation.
Through its investment of $120,000, KFC will support the TTWCA’s 2026 Premiership and Championship Divisions, which collectively feature 14 clubs. As the highest level of domestic women’s cricket locally, these competitions serve as a vital pipeline for national and regional selection. The TTWCA is affiliated with the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) and has been instrumental in developing numerous aspects of women’s cricket for over five decades. With over 250 athletes currently represented, the organisation continues to elevate female participation in sport, hosting Under-16 and U-19 programmes, national leagues and regional tournaments.
Azim Bassarath, president of the TTCB, welcomed the collaboration, saying: “The continued growth of women’s cricket depends on strong partnerships. KFC’s commitment signals that corporate T&T recognises the value and potential of our female athletes. This support not only strengthens our domestic competitions but reinforces the broader movement toward gender equity in sport.”
For KFC, this partnership extends beyond the boundary. The initiative is designed to use the platform of sport to amplify advocacy around critical social issues, including domestic violence, breast and cervical cancer awareness, and the empowerment of young women.
Roger Rambharose, Vice President – KFC & Pizza Hut, Prestige Holdings Limited, explained: “At KFC, sport is one of our core pillars for investment because it builds discipline, confidence and community. Our partnership with the TTWCA is not only about funding competitions; it is about standing alongside these athletes in solidarity as champions for change. Women in sport represent the virtues of strength, resilience and leadership. We will amplify their voices and use cricket as a platform to address critical issues for young women everywhere.”
A key component of the 2026 season will be community engagement. TTWCA athletes will participate in meet-and-greet sessions in underserved communities to share their journeys of resilience and self-worth. Furthermore, the partnership will integrate KFC’s flagship corporate social responsibility program, Harvest. This will see cricketers participating in community kitchen activations to provide meals to vulnerable families.
Stacey Ryan, Head of Marketing - KFC & Pizza Hut, emphasised the importance of visibility.
“This partnership aligns deeply with our brand purpose. We are proud to invest in platforms that elevate women, especially in spaces where representation matters.”
Ryan added, “The TTWCA athletes are role models. When they step onto the field, they represent possibility. Through community meet-and-greets, empowerment sessions and Harvest activations, we want young girls, particularly those in vulnerable communities, to see themselves reflected in strength and success. This is about creating visibility, value and voice.”
The 2026 TTWCA season will feature both 50-over and T20 competitions in the Premiership Division, along with 30-over and T20 formats in the Championship Division, providing a dynamic and competitive environment for female athletes throughout the country.
With competitions running from January to May each year, the partnership between KFC and TTWCA will not only enhance visibility for women’s cricket but also sustain engagement throughout, and even beyond the regular season.
Marjorie Thomas, president of the TTWCA, expressed her gratitude for the support: “Locally, women’s cricket has a proud history and continues to produce outstanding athletes. With 14 clubs competing across our divisions, this partnership will significantly enhance the quality of our 2026 season.”
