GUWA­HATI, In­dia—Both Shim­ron Het­my­er and Jofra Archer made in­signif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions for the Ra­jasthan Roy­als in their eight-wick­et loss to the Kolkata Knight Rid­ers in the In­di­an Pre­mier League Wednes­day.

Het­my­er scored just sev­en from eight balls, while Archer, a Bar­ba­di­an, made 16 in their team’s be­low-par score of 151 for nine in 20 overs af­ter they were sent in to bat at the Barsapara Crick­et Sta­di­um.

Dhruv Ju­rel top-scored for the Roy­als with 33 off 28 de­liv­er­ies.

The Knight Rid­ers were led by a bal­anced bowl­ing at­tack that saw Vaib­hav Aro­ra, Harshit Rana, Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy each claim two wick­ets.

Quin­ton de Kock then smashed an un­beat­en 97 from 61 de­liv­er­ies with eight fours and six six­es to lead the Knight Rid­ers to 153 for two in 17.3 overs.

Angkr­ish Raghu­van­shi hit an un­beat­en 22 off 17 balls in an 83-run part­ner­ship with de Kock for the third wick­et that car­ried their team to vic­to­ry.

Archer was ex­pen­sive for the sec­ond straight match, con­ced­ing 33 runs from his 2.3 overs.

It was the Knight Rid­ers’ first win of the sea­son hav­ing lost their open­er to Roy­al Chal­lengers Ben­galu­ru, while the Roy­als re­main win­less af­ter their two match­es. (CMC)
