Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 83 for the Dubai Capitals in a losing effort.

SHARJAH – Shai Hope cracked a masterful, unbeaten half century but his Dubai Capitals still went down to the Sharjah Warriors by five wickets in a high scoring affair when the International League T20 (ILT20) continued in the United Arab Emirates Friday.

After the Capitals were sent in to bat, Hope blasted 83 from 52 balls with six sixes and three fours at the top of the order and Rovman Powell hit 28 from 15 balls, to carry their side to 201 for five off their 20 overs.

Hope shared an opening stand of 41 with Ben Dunk, 61 with captain Sikandar Raza, who made 27 and 54 with Powell, as the Capitals posted a competitive score at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

However, the Warriors produced a sterling batting effort led by Player-of-the-Match Avishka Fernando, who slammed 81 from just 27 balls to propel them to 202 for five off 18.1 overs.

In an impressive display of power hitting, Fernando bludgeoned eight sixes and six fours, and he received support from openers Johnson Charles and Jason Roy, who scored 37 and 26 respectively, along with Luke Wells who made an unbeaten 31 from 17 balls. (CMC)
