Another worker has been killed on his job site after being hit by a truck.
The latest incident occurred in Manzanilla yesterday and claimed the life of Hardeo Manohar, 63, of Chin Chin Road, Las Lomas.
He was employed as a crew driver with Coosal Construction Company Limited.
Guardian Media understands that the company is conducting road works for the Ministry of Works and Transport in Manzanilla.
Initial reports stated that around 10.26 am yesterday, a truck driver was reversing in a southerly direction on the eastern lane along the Manzanilla/Mayaro Road while being directed by Mahohar but stopped when he felt the vehicle roll over something.
Upon checking, the driver saw Manohar lying motionless on the road.
Workers on the site tried to assist Manohar, and Emergency Health Services and the Manzanilla Police Post were also contacted, but he died at the scene.
When Guardian Media contacted the company, an official stated that they had no comment at this time. An autopsy is expected to be done at the Sangre Grande mortuary.
On January 16, 43-year-old Damian Ramcharan, a Junior Sammy worker, was at the company’s Claxton Bay compound when a cement truck rolled over him.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Couva Hospital. His relatives have asked for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
